Well everyone, it's been a while since I have given an update on my flock. My lambs are huge! My biggest are probably close to 110lbs. I recently purchased a new ram lamb at the Northeast Youth Sheep Show auction. He is from Anchorage Farm and he is very handsome! Addison County Fair and Field Days is coming up and I am planning on bringing six animals. This ram cannot go to the fair because he did not have rabies in time. He will go to Champlain Valley and Eastern States hopefully though. We weaned the lambs almost two months ago now so our ewes are at our wonderful neighbors next door using their pasture at the moment. They will be coming back soon though, for I have to begin preparing for Addison. All my lambs are fairly healthy with the occasional laps here and there. I am very much looking forward to the upcoming show season and will give more updates as they come!

Clare(you will look side-ways:) I couldn't get it to turn)
Well, much to my dismay, my lambs are getting quite big:( I can't pick them up anymore! Clare and Radar are about 50-60lbs and the twins probably 45lbs. They are everything I could have ever wished for though. I can't wait to see how all of them grow and improve as time goes on!
Everyone is doing great! The twins are growing big and strong without the help of their mother. I have to say we were a little worried about the bigger of the twins, Cody. He was bloated about a week ago and seemed really bad. So we called the vet and some pain meds and an anibiotic. He is all better now and going strong. Clare, last time we weighed her, was about 40lbs and she is still growing! I can't pick her up anymore:( She is very sweet and I think she will be everything that I want her to be. Radiar is about 45-50lbs and is very handsome! Again I think he'll be a very nice ram once full grown. All mamas are doing good too, keeping up with their babies and being the best they can be. Now here are some pictures!!
Unfourtunatly, we lost a very important part of our family on Monday. Lily, the mother of our twins, had to be put down. One of her hind legs gave out on her that night so we called the vet. She came and said that it was probably better if we put her down then instead of later. We had known this was coming since she lambed, but thought that we were going to have more time to prepair. No time would have been a good time for something like this but it was what was best for her. It was VERY hard to say good-bye. She will be in our hearts forever. We will be planting a Lily of the Vally plant in her memory.
Well, I have an update on the new twins and their mother. The twins are officially battle lambs as the mother is not phisically cabable of producing enough milk. They are growing big and are very sweet! We finally came up with names for them and they are Anton and Cody. As for the mother, she is not so well. The vet diagnost the ewe with a torn tendon. The tendon is called the Pre-Pubic Tendon and basically it sounds like it holds up her stomach and everything inside. She looks very lopsided and the vet said she is in pain. We have come to the conclusion that we will probably end up putting her down, whether it is in one month or six. She is getting medicine that is hopefully helping the pain and we hope she will stay pain free for as long as possible!
Well, at 6 o'clock this morning I was woken up by my mom saying that Lily's water had broken and she was in labor. I went down to find her pushing and straining. Mom and I, both knowing that we had to give it some time, went back up to the house to contact our vet. She said to check her cervix and see if she was dialated. So we checked and found she was not nearly dialated enouh to give birth. We went back up to the house and updated our vet on what was happening. She said to check her again in a while. We checked her again and no progress. At that point we asked our vet to come to our house ad help us in person. We ended up having to pull both lambs out. My vet pulled the first one and I, the second. They are twin ram lambs and the first one weiged 15.4lbs and the second one weiged 13.7lbs. No names yet but they are soon to come!
